Hi friends,
A wise man once told me that the #1 most easiest way to stop making excuses is to eliminate the word "but" in your vocabulary. The word "but" is the precursor to all excuses that you may have in life.
"I want to go for a 5K run today but it's raining"
"The museum exhibition seems fun but it's too crowded"
"I want a cat but who will take care of it when I'm not around?"
And the list goes on. From the way I see it, the word "but" is always followed by a self-imposed limiting belief that stems from irrational fear of what could give us an inconvenience should we proceed with the activity. This limiting belief is what hinders our progress.
Instead of worrying about the inconvenience, why don't we think of alternate solutions should things not really go our way when we're about to do something. By eliminating "but" from our life, we will automatically look at problems as challenges that we have to overcome. This psychological shift will greatly churn our mind to think of solutions rather than to dwell on the problems at hand.
Try and go about your day today without saying the word "but" and also look at any problems as challenges that are craving for solutions. See if there's any positive change you're feeling in life.
Goodluck friend!
